Fiji eases entry protocols

Fiji’s Blue Lanes initiative for yachts has proven successful, leading to an easing of maritime entry conditions.

From 7 April 2022, Fiji will ease all entry requirements into the island destination.

Blue Lanes, an initiative to safely reopen Fijian waters to yachts and pleasure craft post-pandemic, has been hailed a “smashing success” by Fiji’s Auditor General.

The easing of protocols means that normalised maritime traffic will commence as per the Tourism Advisory through Fiji’s Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport.

Those arriving in Fiji via yacht will undergo vetting prior to arrival by submitting their documents at least 48 hours in advance to Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, including vaccination status and insurance confirmation including COVID as part of the cover.

On arrival, owners and guests of the yacht will undergo testing by a nominated service provider, since they would’ve covered the two to three days at sea prior to arrival. They will be cleared via normal clearance procedures thereafter.

Should a crew test positive, they will be required to quarantine at an approved quarantine facility on Denarau Island; Sofitel and Hilton have confirmed to cater to positive cases.

Those who test positive can also quarantine at a Government Managed Facility, including Tanoa Hotel, Nalagi Hotel or Nasau Apartments, for a minimum of seven days irrespective of their country of arrival.
